Frenkie de Jong big money move could set off Chelsea transfer train | OneFootball

Manchester United appear to be closing in on a big deal for Frenkie de Jong, and that could trigger a major chain of events for Chelsea.

Barcelona are strapped for short term cash, but want to keep rebuilding their team to work under new manager Xavi.

They are looking to their most valuable assets to sell off to fund such a rebuild, and there’s probably nobody they’re willing to sell who will fetch a higher price than De Jong.

The Dutch midfielder was great under new Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag when they were at Ajax together, and it’s easy to see why both sides would be happy to make a move happen.

It would then open up transfer funds for Barcelona to buy Marcos Alonso, as well as signing up Andreas Christensen and perhaps even Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea as well.
