It had been expected for a while before it was finally announced yesterday; Francesco Farioli was leaving OGC Nice to become the new manager of Ajax. The search for a new head coach could officially begin on the south coast, and with it another familiar name was linked to the role.
According to Foot Mercato, the turmoil in the north with Franck Haise reportedly keen to leave RC Lens has opened Nice up to the possibility of securing a manager that they had previously been keen on signing last summer.
The results Haise has managed to secure with Lens, in particular, his role in developing the team into title chasers in the 2022/23 season has earned him plaudits at Nice who would be keen on transplanting some of that success into a project that is enacting sweeping changes.
Haise will face competition for the role from Bruno Génésio who has been heavily linked with the fresh vacancy at Le Gym. Likewise Nice faces rival interest from Olympique de Marseille who are thought to be assessing a move for Haise.
