The France U20 team won the Maurice Revello Tournament – formerly known as the Toulon Tournament – with a 2-1 comeback win in the final over Venezuela.
The South American team opened the scoring early on in the first half with a goal from Telasco Segovia, who was later named player of the tournament, before Les Bleuets came back after the break with goals from Maghnes Akliouche and a winner from Nathanaël Mbuku.
The title is France’s 13th since the tournament began in 1967, a record in the competition, and they succeed the 2019 winners Brazil in retaking their title, with England winning it three years in a row between 2016 and 2018.
Les Bleuets’ squad notably features the likes of Bordeaux striker Sékou Mara, who finished the tournament as top scorer, as well as Adil Aouchiche of Saint-Étienne and Lucien Agoumé of Inter Milan.
The defence featured Bayern Munich’s Tanguy Kouassi, while Hugo Ekitike of Reims played in the tournament but was absent for the final after he picked up an injury in the 4-1 semi-final win over Mexico.
