France U20 manager Landry Chauvin has unveiled the 21-man squad that will take part in the U20 FIFA World Cup, which is set to be held in Argentina from May 20 to June 11. Hull City FC goalkeeper Thimothée Lo-Tulala (20) and Huddersfield Town midfielder Etienne Camara (20) have made the cut. However, the squad is mostly comprised of players with little to no experience of the highest level, with Troyes’ Alexis Tidibi (19) and Wilson Odobert (18), as well as Lille’s Alan Virginius (20) notable exceptions.

According to L’Equipe, no less than 28 players have seen their World Cup call-up rejected by their clubs, as the tournament is not part of the FIFA calendar. Therefore, eligible prospects such as Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto (19), Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel (18), Sunderland midfielder Edouard Michut (20), Montpellier free-scoring striker Elye Wahi (20) or RB Salzburg Lucas Gourna-Douath (19) won’t be able to play for Les Bleuets this month. France will play South Korea, Gambia and Honduras in the group stage.
