Who were the top points scorers in FPL Gameweek 13?

Did you know the Hub is running a new competition?  You can win £3,000 by predicting the three highest-scoring FPL players in the gameweek in order. Look out for a post on our Twitter page later this week.

The top-three points scorers so far this gameweek are:

  • Kurt Zouma – 15 points
  • Leon Bailey – 13 points
  • Erling Haaland – 13 points

West Ham defender Kurt Zouma (£4.5m) leapt to the top of the pile on Monday night, as he scored and kept a clean sheet against Bournemouth.

The FPL team of the week, with Zouma’s help, scored 130 points. Eslam Ashraf, who came into the game at Gameweek 10, played his bench boost, earning him an extra 30 points.

Gameweek 13 stats

Watkins leads the way for big chances

Ollie Watkins (£7.2m) scored a goal in Aston Villa’s 4-0 win over Brentford, returning a total of six FPL points.

He was not the star man in points terms for the Villlans, with Bailey and Ings amassing 13 and 12 points respectively.

But Watkins had a standout Gameweek 13 in terms of key Opta stats.

He led the league for big chances (four) – twice that of Erling Haaland and Ings. His five shots on target was also league leading, as was his expected goals (xG) tally of 1.97.

The Englishman has significantly underperformed his xG this season. He has scored two goals from an xG of 6.07 – the sixth-highest figure in the league.

Whoever replaces Steven Gerrard as Villa manager will hope they can make him as clinical as his strike partner Ings.

Costa and Almiron top of the shots

Managerless Wolves were beaten 4-0 by Leicester, with a Youri Tielemans (£6.3m) stunner and James Maddison (8.2m) goal among the highlights.

But it was Diego Costa (£5.5m) who led the league for shot volume in Gameweek 13. He had eight attempts on goal, all of which were inside the box.

The Spain international could only manage three shots on target and one big chance among them, though, and could not score.

Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron (£5.4m) had no such issues though, and his only shot on target from six efforts resulted in a goal against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Paraguayan now has six goals this season – as many as Maddison and Phil Foden (£8.4m).

Budget midfielder Pereira returns as Leeds waste Aaronson’s creativity

Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) picked up two assists in Fulham’s 3-2 victory over Leeds for 10 points – a major bonus for those who started him and a heartache for managers who put him on the bench.

The tally was matched by Everton’s Alex Iwobi (£5.5m), however it was Brenden Aaronson (£5.5m) who topped the league for expected assists (xA).

His xA of 0.99 was ahead of Pereira’s 0.93 but the American – who also made a league-leading seven key passes – came away empty handed.

Pereira, Iwobi and Aaronson each created two big chances in Gameweek 13, as did Martin Odegaard (£6.4m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m).

The Liverpool full-back was only on the pitch for 28 minutes in his team’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. He also saw a shot saved by Dean Henderson (£4.7m) in that time.

Solanke forced off with injury and Benrahma on penalty duties

Monday’s match between West Ham and Bournemouth was notable for the injury to Dominic Solanke (£5.8m), which forced him off before half-time.

Solanke is owned by 3.5% of managers in FPL, who will now be looking ahead to Ben Dinnery’s predicted lineups on the Hub later this week for news.

Ben said Solanke left the London Stadium in a protective boot, although Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil said it was too soon to know the extent of the injury.

The match also saw goalkeeper Neto (£4.5m) substituted due to injury. Again, O’Neil was unsure of the prognosis.

The Hammers won the game 1-0, courtesy of a penalty from Said Benrahma (£5.6m)Jarrod Bowen (£8.2m), who missed a spot-kick against Liverpool in the previous game, could now be off them for the foreseeable future.

FPL yellow cards: Who is close to a one-match ban?

Players who receive five yellow cards in their sides’ first 19 games have to serve a one-match ban.

A two-match ban follows for those who pick up ten bookings by their 32 game.

Five players have already served a one-match ban – Maddison, Anthony Gordon (£5.4m), Joao Palhinha (£5.0m), Scott McTominay (£4.9m) and Ruben Neves (£5.5m).

Everton midfielder Gordon’s yellow card in Gameweek 12 was his sixth of the season.

There are 20 players on four yellows. The highest owned are:

  • Gabriel Jesus (£8.0m) – 59.4%
  • William Saliba (£5.2m) – 31.4%
  • Ivan Toney (£7.5m) – 27.8%
  • Fabian Schar (£4.9m) – 12%
  • Diogo Dalot (£4.6m) – 9.8%

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.8m), Neco Williams (£4.1m) and Harry Kane (£11.5m) are among the group of players on three yellow cards.

Fergi’s Green Arrow podcast Gameweek 13 punt: The results

Now it’s time for a little light-hearted content.

Viewers of the Hub’s Green Arrow podcast will know that each week this season, host Fergi is naming one low-owned player who he thinks will return in FPL.

If he’s wrong, he’ll be adding £10 to a pot to be donated to charity.

Fergi has a habit of being ahead of his time. For example, he tipped Almiron in the early stages of the season – but before he went on his hot goalscoring streak.

His latest pick was 2% owned Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m), who could not convert either of his two shots on goal against Chelsea.

Which Premier League player is the best at FPL?

The FPL Bot website tracks a group of verified Premier League players’ fantasy teams, with the likes of Patrick Bamford, Odegaard and Maddison listed.

Adam Forshaw still leads the way, with his 770 points giving him an overall rank of 131k.

Mohamed Elneny, who took a massive 56 point hit in Gameweek 2, has risen to 1oth place. He triple captained Haaland in Gameweek 13 for a 39 pointer.

Bukayo Saka meanwhile is up to third. He played his Wildcard in Gameweek 13 and scored 48 points.

Who is winning FPL?

Libya’s Sanad 23 leads the way among millions of FPL managers, topping the ranks so far.

Having played his Wildcard in Gameweek 8 and Free Hit in Gameweek 12, he scored 59 points in Gameweek 13 to retain his top spot in the overall rankings for the second week running.

FPL Insights

The early stages of the FPL season usually see those who have played their chips early rise to the top.

As the season progresses, those who have saved their chips tend to overtake them, meaning the early leaderboards are not the most representative.

But who is doing the best having saved their chips?

Well, we have the answer, thanks to the Hub’s new FPL Insights section of our gameweek review.

At the start of the gameweek, Robert Burles’ He Winks Goodbye was ranked 31st in the world. He is yet to use even his Wildcard.

And what about the highest-ranked player to have not made a single transfer to date?

That honour went to Gašper Hodnik of Slovenia, who was placed 319th.

This team has been the same since Gameweek 1 and is ranked 319th in FPL
