It all happened in the second half: goals from Larin and Shaffelburg secured Canada's spot in this summer's tournament, which will be held in the United States. Buchanan was selected in the starting line-up and played 80 minutes.

The Canadians will be in Group A alongside world champions Argentina, Chile and Peru.

DEFEAT FOR FRANCE

In a prestigious friendly in Lyon, Germany ran out 2-0 winners over France thanks to goals from Wirtz and Havertz. Benjamin Pavard and Marcus Thuram both started the game, with the former playing the entire match and the latter coming off after 61 minutes.

SOMMER STARTS IN GOAL AGAINST DENMARK

Yann Sommer was on the pitch for 38 minutes as Switzerland played out a goalless draw against Denmark in Copenhagen. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper was forced off towards the end of the first half due to injury.
