The player took to her personal Instagram account to announce her departure this morning.
Van de Sanden is in her second spell at Liverpool after previously representing the club between 2016 and 2017. She returned to Merseyside after leaving German club VfL Wolfsburg back in summer 2022 and she has gone on to make a further 24 appearances for The Reds in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored two goals.
The Dutch international has struggled to rediscover her best form with injuries having taken their toll. She has been able to make a solid contribution towards Liverpool’s rise in the top flight since their promotion in 2021/2022.
Announcing her Liverpool departure, Van de Sanden said “It’s time to say goodbye. Thank you to the team and staff who have given me a warm welcome coming back to this club. Also, a special thanks to the supporters, you guys have been amazing to me. You all have a special place in my heart. Thank you Liverpool Women.”
Van de Sanden is the first player to be leaving Liverpool this summer. The Reds face Leicester City in their final fixture of the 2023/2024 season on Saturday afternoon.
