Former Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan claimed that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has what it takes to become the best player in the world.

Mbappe is coming off of the four-goal showing in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Barcelona. The performance garnered more supporters in the prediction that Mbappe will go on to become the next top player in the sport, which some even claim is inevitable at this point.

Forlan played against the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, so he knows first-hand what makes a top goal-scorer. And with Mbappe, Forlan (via UOL) sees grand potential in the PSG star.

“He has great chances, no doubt, he is among the best in the world,” Forlan said. “He is a footballer who is unbalanced, has a great performance and undoubtedly has all the level to be one of the best.”

Forlan also predicts that Mbappe and PSG teammate Neymar will be among the top stars at the next World Cup.

“Mbappé, obviously, there is no doubt, Neymar too,” Forlan said. “There are very good and young players who are doing very well. Obviously, we have to wait for them to qualify in their countries.”

For now, both Mbappe and Neymar will be aiming to help lead PSG to a second consecutive Champions League final appearance over this season’s knockout stage.
