Former Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Anelotti has this week revealed who he feels is deserving of the next Ballon d’Or.

The player in question? A current member of Los Blancos’ ranks, in none other than Luka Modrić.

Ancelotti, son of legendary tactician Carlo, of course spent recent years watching over the progress of midfield icon Modrić, during a shared stint together in Spain’s capital.

The former has since departed, following the dismissal of his father as Real Madrid headmaster.

And Modrić will imminently follow suit, upon the conclusion of the Club World Cup in the USA.

And of the opinion that the Croatian is deserving of being recognised by world football for his efforts across the last 12 months is Davide Ancelotti himself.

Speaking during an interview with Radioestadio Noche this week, the ex-Blancos coach was asked to name his pick for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

And Ancelotti went on to respond:

“I would give the Ballon d’Or to Modrić.”
