On Friday, Manuel Ugarte officially completed his move from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United, generating much reaction after both clubs confirmed the transfer.

Multiple reports reveal that PSG will receive a fixed fee of €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause as part of Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United.

Furthermore, journalist Duncan Castles reported this week there are no hard feelings toward Ugarte and that PSG anticipate that Ugarte will become one of Manchester United’s top players in the future.

Now that the former PSG standout is a Red Devil, pundits are discussing where the player fits in manager Erik ten Hag’s system and what to expect from the player. TalkSPORT pundit Flex noted that the profile Ugarte brings to Manchester United is something the club has lacked.

“The profile of him and what he’s good at versus what he’s not good at is really important for us to have,” Flex said. “I think he’s someone who wins back the ball at a high rate. He embraces 1v1 deals. He can cover a lot of ground. He’s a willing runner and he can play with intensity. I don’t think we should misprofile him and think that he’s going to be an all-controlling No. 6 sitting in front of the back four and dictating in play and getting Manchester United playing through the lines, etc, etc.

“I think he’ll win the ball back very aggressively and make simple passes quite consistently, which is not a bad thing. I think when you look at the deficiencies that we’ve had in midfield, we’ve been far too easy to play against, far too open to play against, and we’re not physical enough. We don’t get in team’s faces. We don’t have that type of player.”

Ten Hag will have to wait to see Ugarte in action as the transfer wasn’t done in time for this weekend’s matchup against Liverpool. As a result, his debut will come after the international break.
