Former PSG defender Sammy Traoré suspended for 16 games after U16’s match | OneFootball

Sammy Traoré has been banned for 16 matches with US Créteil-Lusitanos after the sporting director was found guilty of being aggressive and insulting to a referee during an under-16s match.

According to L’Équipe, a disciplinary committee met on the 3rd of April to deliver their verdict, where they decided to suspend the former Paris Saint-Germain and OGC Nice player and fine the club €50 for his behaviour during a match.

Traoré was said to have acted aggressively and disrespectfully towards a referee on the 23rd of March, during a match between Créteil-Lusitanos and the Racing Club de France. In a report, by the assistant referee, the former defender was alleged to have walked across the pitch to delay the game, and “encouraged his players to commit serious fouls on their opponents.”

Afterwards, he was accused of targeting the referee with insults, and near the end of the game, he burst onto the pitch to confront the referee and became threatening with the assistant when told to get off the field. At the final whistle, Traoré had to be physically restrained by the manager of the club.

The ex-Mali international has denied these events and reported that “he had no major problem” and that his “attitude was not disrespectful towards anyone.” Although he provided no evidence to contradict the official’s version. From the 8th of April, Traoré will begin his suspension.
