Tottenham and Fraser Forster faced tough criticism after a late equaliser against Wolves dashed their hopes of returning to winning ways in the Premier League.
The Spurs were leading 2-1 at half-time but were unable to hold onto their advantage, leaving everyone frustrated at a missed opportunity.
Forster, standing in for injured first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, was singled out for his role in the decisive goal.
Tottenham’s defensive woes have been a recurring issue this season, and Sunday’s match only added to their growing list of frustrations.
With the club now 11th in the table and far from Champions League contention, manager Ange Postecoglou has the unenviable task of lifting his injury-ravaged squad out of this slump.
After conceding an early goal, Tottenham regained momentum in the first half.
A well-executed corner allowed Rodrigo Bentancur to head Spurs level before Brennan Johnson gave them a slender lead with a calm finish. However, despite their dominance, the team failed to extend their advantage in the second half.
The pivotal moment came in the 87th minute when Jorgen Strand Larsen fired a powerful shot past Forster at the near post.

While it was a fiercely struck effort, former England international Stephen Warnock criticised Forster’s technique, stating on BBC Final Score:
“Fraser Forster has been done near post. The run from Jorgen Strand Larsen is lovely, as is the pass from Rayan Ait Nouri, and Strand Larsen lashes the ball as hard as he can near post, top corner.”
Tottenham’s inability to convert chances in the second half and a defensive lapse from Radu Dragusin compounded their misfortunes, leaving them with just two wins in their last nine Premier League outings.
“Forster almost turns his back on it rather than standing tall and being brave. He should not be beaten from there,” he added.
Forster’s performance wasn’t the only concern for Spurs. With key players sidelined by injuries, including several defenders and Vicario, Postecoglou has been forced to rely on a limited core of players.
This lack of depth was evident in the team’s fatigued second-half performance.
Postecoglou remained empathetic but acknowledged the shortcomings, saying: "It’s obvious, you know, the lads are fairly fatigued... We’re asking a lot of a sort of small core group of players."
Tottenham’s next match against Newcastle poses a significant challenge, and with the squad stretched thin, Postecoglou faces an uphill battle to steer his side back on track.
The clock is ticking for Spurs to address their vulnerabilities before their season slips further out of reach.
