The Ivorian centre-back signed for the Turkish giants in September after seven-years at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for Bailly, who had a strong debut season at United, his development was hindered heavily by injuries.

Now he leaves Besiktas after making just eight appearances for the club.

A statement from Besiktas on Friday read (via The Mirror): “The contract with Eric Bailly, the player of our Football A Team, has been terminated by mutual agreement. We wish Eric Bailly success in his career.”

Bailly had been banished from the first-team since the beginning of the month along with four other players due to poor performance and incompatibility within the team.

In his seven years at United, Bailly made 113 appearances across all competitions, but he was unable to become a consistent starter.

United sent him to Ligue 1 side Marseille on loan last season, but they didn’t want the 29-year-old on a permanent deal and he moved to Turkey for a new chapter in his career. Only for it to last just three months!

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Bailly is already closing in on his next move. The free agent is reportedly on the verge of re-joining Villarreal having previously played for them between 2015-2016 – prior to his transfer to United.
