Former Huddersfield Town defender and coach Michael Hefele has departed the John Smith’s Stadium to join West Bromwich Albion’s backroom staff.
Earlier this afternoon, Huddersfield released a statement confirming that Hefele had resigned from his role as club ambassador in order to accept a coaching position at the Hawthorns.
This was then confirmed by the Baggies, with Hefele set to replace Jaime Monroy as First Team Assistant Coach.
Speaking as part of the club’s announcement, Corberan had the following to say on Hefele’s appointment: “I would like to welcome Michael to The Hawthorns as a member of my staff.”
“I know him personally from my time at Huddersfield and look forward to working alongside him again.
“Michael has all the attributes required to join my team and I know he will provide a valuable contribution as we work together as a club to improve.

“I, of course, wish Jaime well in the future. Michael is a highly-capable replacement who I know will be an excellent addition to work alongside Jorge, Damia, James and Gary.”
Hefele joins the Baggies staff ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Bristol City on Monday afternoon.
WBA currently sit 16th in the Championship but have seen a sharp upturn in form and results in recent weeks with Corberan at the helm.
It’s hard to know what to make of this one to be honest.
With Jaime Monroy parting ways due to personal reasons, it isn’t as though Corberan has purposely gone out of his way to shake up the backroom staff or anything like that.
Nevertheless, Corberan is aware of Hefele from his time at Huddersfield, so likely knows exactly what he can bring to his staff.
It will be interesting to see if the Baggies can continue this recent upturn in form into the new year following this appointment.
