Ex-EFL star Adrian Clarke thinks that Scott Parker has managed to get together a good blend of ages in his Burnley group.

After the relegation from the Premier League, Burnley appointed Parker as their new manager in July in a bid to bounce straight back up to the top flight.

This summer, under the leadership of Parker, Burnley have seen a massive overhaul, with 21 players leaving the squad and bringing in a host of new faces.

Clarke is of the view that Parker has managed to find a lovely age blend in his group and believes that within two years some of the current Burnley players will reach their peak.

He pointed out that with the new arrivals, Burnley are now a much more athletic team with players hungry to prove themselves.

“They have good players; it is just how long it will take to gel”, Clarke said on What The EFL.

“The other thing about this team is they are of good age.

“I look at this Burnley team from the last match before the international break, seven players 24 or under and the other four 27,28,29.

“I think that is a lovely blend.

“I would not mind a 30-year-old there just for a little bit of an experience, but I do think that there will be a lot of athleticism, a lot of hunger and a lot of players coming into their peak in the next year or two in Turf Moor.”

Burnley are currently seventh in the Championship table and they are set to take on fourth placed Leeds United at the weekend.
