There could be a rare occasion that Callum Hudson-Odoi is handed a start for Chelsea tonight, but for him, these occasions are all too rare right now.

Under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel, Hudson-Odoi has not really been trusted for regular game time, but a lot of that was down to him recovering from a serious injury.

But now is the time for the young England international to show his full potential, according to another former Chelsea winger, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Tonight is the ultimate chance for Hudson-Odoi to do this and really show what he is made of, and then make it impossible for Tuchel to drop him in coming matches. Because for me, Hudson-Odoi really needs a run of games now to be able to show what he is capable of, and he needs them playing in his preferred and best position on the attacking left side.

But unfortunately, for him to reach his full potential Wright-Phillips thinks he needs to walk away from Chelsea, as reported by The Metro.

“I think whether he decides to realise his full potential or stick to being a fringe player is totally down to him.

“If he wants to be in and out of the team and play a role that he is doing now, then you stay at Chelsea.

“But, if you want to play regular football and show everyone why Bayern Munich were thinking about buying him, then he’s going to have to walk away and prove to people how good he is.”
