The deal was announced this morning via a post on Atlético Madrid’s official club website.
Pinto joins Atlético Madrid after leaving former club Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last season. The 30-year-old Portuguese international midfielder has signed a two-year deal with Las Colchoneras.
Pinto joined former club Brighton & Hove Albion last summer after a spell playing her football in Spain with Levante UD. The player went on to make 20 appearances for The Seagulls in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she scored two goals. It was a difficult campaign for Brighton & Hove Albion, however, Pinto helped the club to stay clear of relegation trouble and record a ninth-place finish.
After one season playing in England, Pinto is returning to the Spanish game with Atlético Madrid. She joins an Atlético Madrid team that will be keen to resume their position as one of the very best teams in the finetwork Liga F. The club have gone five years without a title win while they have finished fourth in three consective seasons.
On a personal level, Pinto will be hoping for a successful spell at Atlético Madrid. Her best form has arguably come when playing in Spain or in her native Portugal.
