The Premier League went absolutely bananas in the 2025 summer transfer window, spending an unprecedented amount on new signings.

After all the deals have been totted up, England top-flight clubs splurged £3 billion on acquiring player. It’s the most money ever spent by a league in a single window.

Several Premier League teams were mindful to balance the books. Chelsea spent almost £300 million on signings, but that was more than offset by offloading a load of their own players to ensure they came out with a profit.

Liverpool were the biggest spenders overall, breaking their transfer record twice to help take their outlay to £446m, but managed to rake in nearly £200m from sales.

Arsenal are top of the net spend league table after failing to complete any major outgoings while spending £267m on signings.

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United feature highly after doing a mostly terrible job of getting the maximum value for their outcasts, bringing in £67.1m against the £232.4m they spent.

Spurs are in fourth with a net spend of £154.2m, but right behind them are Sunderland on £141.4m. The Black Cats have made a real push in the market to help them battle against relegation following their promotion to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, seven clubs ended the transfer window with a positive net spend. Bournemouth posted a surplus of a little under £66m after losing a plethora of key players, while Brighton and Brentford were both close to the £60m mark.
