Cercle Brugge will be wondering how they did not come away from their home game against Kortrijk with at least a point. The home side ended up losing 2-1, despite having 23 shots and an xG of 2.64, Thibo Somers was the only Cercle player to find the net on Sunday afternoon. Kortrijk, on the other hand, were clinical with their chances. Nachon Ferri got his first goal for the club, with Mark Mampassi making it two with a well guided header during the second half.
Clearly, the star for Kortrijk was goalkeeper Patrik Sigurdur Gunnarsson. The 23-year-old from Iceland joined Kortrijk in the summer and already seems to be a good piece of business. Formerly of Brentford, he made five saves and could do little to deny Somers his goal.
Cercle will be frustrated having not picked up any points from their opening two games. However, they have been playing in Europe and were able to get the better of Kilmarnock during the week.
