Former Birmingham City forward Claudia Walker has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Burnley on a free transfer.

The Clarettes announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Walker joins Burnley after leaving former club Birmingham City upon the expiry of her contract in June.

The 28-year-old forward enjoyed two spells with the Midlands club. She first turned out for the Blues between 2019 and 2021 before returning for a second stint in early 2023. Walker made 93 appearances for Birmingham City in total in which she netted 13 goals.

Walker will now take up the challenge of helping third tier Burnley finally win promotion to the elite game.

After joining Burnley, Walker said “It’s an exciting time and I’m buzzing to be here.

“At the back end of last season, I started having conversations with the Club and when I came and had a look around, I liked it and got a good feeling.

“I knew Bex [Rebecca Sawiuk] and Lou [Roberts] before I came here, which helped me make my decision as I know how much they value me.

“It’s been quite easy to come into the group and everybody’s really welcoming, so with the season edging closer, I’m really excited to get going.”

The move to Burnley will see Walker play her football outside of the top two tiers for the first time this season.
