Bojan made 20 appearances for the J1 League club last year and has decided to call time on his career.

He joined Vissel in 2021 and ended his time with the Asian club with a goal in 26 appearances.

Bojan started his career with Barcelona having joined them as a nine-year-old.

He gained prominence in 2007 after breaking Lionel Messi’s record of being the youngest Barca player to feature in a La Liga match.

Bojan ended up spending four seasons with the Catalans, bagging 41 goals in 162 games.

He won three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies with them before joining AS Roma.

However, he spent just a season with the Serie A club before joining AC Milan on a season-long loan the following term.

Bojan returned to the Camp Nou club ahead of the 2013-14 season after an obligatory buyback clause was activated.

He was immediately shipped to Ajax on loan but left after a season.

Despite the Spaniard’s short stint in the Netherlands, he won the Eredivisie and Johan Cruyff Shield before leaving for Stoke City.

He spent five seasons with the Potters but spent time on loan at Mainz 05 and Alaves in between.

Bojan joined Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact afterwards and spent two seasons before moving to Vissel.

He won the Canadian Championship with the Impact in 2019.

Despite being a whizkid during his age-grade days with Spain, Bojan made only one appearance for the senior team.

The former striker had huge potential during his teenage years.

Unfortunately, he could not reach the peak of his talents as many predicted.

Nevertheless, he will go down in history as a Barca hero.

It is not a surprise that his official announcement to announce his retirement took place at his boyhood club.
