Former Arsenal goalkeeper Lydia Williams has signed a one-year contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain.

The Parisians announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon. The move comes as no real surprise with Williams having been strongly-linked with Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.

Williams spent two years at former club Arsenal in which she made 11 appearances for The Gunners in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Australian international provided some strong competition for first-choice keeper Manuela Zinsberger. Williams will now be hoping to prove her worth to new club Paris Saint-Germain.

After securing her move to the French club, Williams said “I am very happy to finally be in Paris and to have the opportunity to play here. It’s very exciting and now I’m really looking forward to being able to be on the pitch.

“I have always loved coming to Paris, visiting France and discovering this country. I’m very happy to be able to be part of huge club and their story, it’s really very exciting. I can’t wait to see what it will bring.”

Paris Saint-Germain has become Williams’ ninth different club in a career which has taken her from Australia to the United States, Sweden and England.
