Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi and Lucas Leiva joined the squad for today’s training session in Formello, according to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today.
The report details how the Italian defender and Brazilian midfielder both missed the matches against Benevento, Napoli and AC Milan due to muscle problems. The duo have featured significantly since the start of the season and so have now had a short time to rest whilst recovering.
Captain Senad Lulic joined the squad for the warm-up and first few tactical exercises, but then split off to do some stretching and sprinting work with the fitness coach Fabio Ripert.
The 34-year-old Bosnian’s recovery time determines Lazio’s transfer market strategy for next month’s window, as a new left wing back will be signed if he is not able to re-join the squad.
Luis Felipe and Joaquin Correa, both injured, worked individually in the gym, whilst Italian midfielder Marco Parolo has still not returned, suffering from an ankle injury.
Finally, Mohamed Fares is still recovering from his calf strain and will work to be available in the middle of next month.
