Barcelona are slowly, yet steadily, making moves on the departure front and it is not surprising that they have begun with players on loan.
Alex Valle and Clement Lenglet’s futures have been sorted in recent days and the club is also working on securing exits for the likes of Ansu Fati, Gerard Martin, Pau Victor and Pablo Torre.
One player who spent last season on loan whose future has not yet been cleared up, however, is Oriol Romeu and Mundo Deportivo provides an update on the same.
As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Romeu is the only Barcelona player who was on loan last season whose future is yet to be ascertained. At this point, however, Barcelona themselves are undecided on the same.
The midfielder was at Girona last season but Michel’s side parted ways with him late in May and the player thus returns to Barcelona where he is contractually bound for another year.

He has assumed that he is not in Hansi Flick’s plans but the club are yet to officially communicate anything of that sort to the defensive midfielder. He will meet with Deco in the coming days to clear the air about his future.
Given the severe competition in midfield, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong’s rise as pivots, Marc Casado’s quality last season and Marc Bernal’s return, there is little to suggest that Romeu will be in Flick’s plans.
A departure, either permanent or on loan, thus appears likely. At Montilivi they do not completely rule out counting on Romeu next season but it looks complicated as of today.
The coming weeks will be critical in deciding the Spaniard’s future, but it is safe to say that he is likely on his way out of the club once more.
