Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White was left “disappointed” by the team’s failure to beat Wolves on Saturday, but says they have the know-how to stave off relegation from the Premier League.

The forward was on target just before halftime to cancel out Matheus Cunha’s opener at the City Ground. Danilo put the hosts ahead after the interval, by Cunha scored again minutes later to level matters.

“I think we’ll all agree that we came off the pitch just now disappointed to have not taken the three points,” Gibbs-White told Premier League Productions after the final whistle.

“Again we have gone up in a game and we’ve conceded. We have to reflect on what happened today, a point is still a point but we are disappointed not to take all three.”

The Englishman’s goal was particularly meaningful as it came against his former side, and in a Midlands derby, too.

“I love playing in these occasions, so I saw the ball coming in from Gio (Reyna), great ball, and I tried to flick it into the back post. I haven’t scored many headers so that is one to add to the tally,” he said.

The result leaves Forest teetering above the relegation zone, just one point ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town in the Premier League table. Burnley closed the gap to safety to six points after drawing with Brighton, while Sheffield United sit bottom on 16 points.

“Yes of course it is,” Gibbs-White responded when asked if it is still in their own hands after the draw.

“We were in this position last season so we know what we have to do. We just need to keep plugging away and picking up as many points as possible. This one today could prove vital come the end of the season. Disappointed but we’ll take the point.”
