Roma manager Paulo Fonseca refused to discuss the situation of star striker Edin Dzeko after he barred the Bosnian from training with the full squad after the pair clashed ten days ago.

The falling led out led to the Giallorossi engaging in transfer talks with Inter on a potential swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez, however, the operation fell apart after two days of negotiations.

”I understand the curiosity on Dzeko, but I don’t want to discuss it right now,” he replied when asked about the attacker’s situation.

”It’s also not time to discuss who will be the captain for the rest of the season. It’s time to think about Verona, who are a great team.”

”I don’t want to contribute to speculation. Let’s focus on tomorrow’s match and worry about Roma, it’s a difficult match that we have to win.”

”We’ll have Mkhitaryan back but Mirante is still out. I’ve been very pleased with Mayoral and it’s also possible that Kumbulla starts.”

Fonseca then discussed the arrival of Stephan El Shaarawy, who will officially mark his return to the club in the coming hours.

”I think Stephan will adapt quickly to our system of play. He knows Italian football well and he has characteristics that can be useful for us.”

He continued, “Above all, though, there’s the most important thing: he wanted to return to Roma at all costs, which I immediately understood after speaking with him. This is the sort of thing a manager wants to hear when speaking with a player. I’m very pleased because I know that El Shaarawy is a player who loves Roma.”
