Paulo Fonseca provided a reflection on the work he has done so far as the head coach of AC Milan, highlighting the positives but admitted there is work to do still.
Milan are seventh in the league table at the moment and are in the middle of the pack in the Champions League, yet Fonseca certainly isn’t under the same amount of pressure as he was a few weeks back.
The reason? The results are good, but above all the Rossoneri are entertaining to watch. They scored six times against Sassuolo, three against Empoli, three against Slovan Bratislava and three against Cagliari. They have hit 15 goals in the last five games despite being kept out by Juventus.
Fonseca spoke to the reporters who gathered at Milanello for his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game. He was asked what satisfies him most about his work at Milan so far, plus what he wishes to improve.
“There are many things that leave me satisfied at the moment. You see the growth of the players, it is very important to me. I want to win, I want titles. But watching the people who work with me grow is the thing that gives me the most pleasure.
“I have players who give me this pleasure. After that, being coach of Milan is something that I think every day is a privilege. The things that I am not totally satisfied with I cannot say (smiles).
“Then there are the things on an individual level and on a collective level, but I do not want to say them. But they are there. If one day I get there then I will come here and I can say it. But today I am still a little far from what I would like.”
