After joining Chelsea at the beginning of the season, expectations were high for Júlia Bartel.

The midfielder made just two appearances for the Blues in a disappointing start to her career in England.

As a result of her lack of playing time with Chelsea, Bartel was loaned out to Liverpool for the majority of last season.

Despite her move Bartel still struggled in England’s top flight and only managed five appearances for the Reds.

The Spaniard did feature more prominently for Liverpool in cup competitions despite her team losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Bartel seemed thrilled about her return back to Spain when conducing her first interview with Atletico Madrid after the loan was confirmed.

“I’m very happy and proud of this new challenge. I’m eager to get started and I’m here with the goal of working hard to grow personally as a player, while also helping the team achieve its goals.

“The Atléti project is ideal for me to develop and compete at this current professional and personal level.”

While she struggled for form in the WSL last season a return to Liga F is sure to help Bartel develop as a player.

During her time with Barcelona, Bartel also struggled for minutes but the youngster was just 19 during her time with the Spanish giants.

Now joining a club slightly below the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona in the world rankings the 21-year-old should finally gain some valuable experience.

While Barcelona are sure to be short favourites to win Liga F with betting sites – Atletico Madrid are sure to be close behind with Real Madrid yet again.
