The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is the perfect place for players from across Europe to showcase their talent on the international stage for their country.
Starting on July 2, 16 countries will fight to win the coveted trophy, with England the current holders after their victory at Wembley in 2022.
With the development of women’s football in England, more than 40 nations have been represented in the country’s premier division, the WSL, by over 460 players.
Here are five WSL players to watch out for in the tournament:
The Arsenal midfielder is a fan favourite in north London and will have eager eyes as she captains Switzerland as the host nation for the first-ever time.
Wälti found herself out of contention in Arsenal’s midfield three as a result of some sublime performances from Kim Little, Mariona Caldentey and Frida Maanum. However, she still made 30 appearances in all competitions and played a big role in the Gunners’ Champions League glory.
While Norway are expected to top Group A as favourites, Switzerland have an excellent chance of qualifying as runners-up, but would then likely meet World Cup champions Spain at the quarter-final stage.
Having joined Chelsea from PSG in July 2024, the 25-year-old became a formidable part of Sonia Bompastor’s treble-winning side.
Baltimore scored four goals and provided three assists in her debut WSL season, but it was her standout performance in the FA Cup final that was the highlight, with a match-winning brace and assist against Manchester United.
Capable of playing across the front three, Baltimore has been a regular for France as a left winger, centre-forward and right winger.
France have been drawn against England, Netherlands and Wales, with a tricky route to follow in the knockout stages.
Since making the switch from Brighton to Manchester United last summer, Terland has done her best to fill the void left by Alessia Russo’s departure to Arsenal.
The Norwegian international scored 10 goals for Manchester United in the WSL, only bettered by Russo and Bunny Shaw’s 12.
While Ada Hegerberg remains the focal point up front for Norway, Terland can have a huge influence coming off the bench and taking advantage of tired defences in the Swiss heat.
Finland will have a huge challenge finishing above Norway and Switzerland, but Summanen has a wealth of experience and could be a key player to watch.
The 27-year-old joined Spurs back in 2022 and has made over 50 appearances for the club, scoring three goals under Robert Vilahamn this season.
Playing as part of a midfield three under Marko Saloranta in the national setup, her experience and quality will be crucial if they are to progress past the group stage.
Mariona hit the ground running in north London after making the tough decision to leave Barcelona last summer.
The 29-year-old scored 19 goals in all competitions, becoming an integral part of Renee Slegers’ side on their journey to becoming Champions League winners.
Forming part of an exceptional midfield including the likes of former teammates Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas, Spain are undoubtedly the favourites heading into the tournament.
