CELTIC… 5(Hayes 9, Flint 26, 44, Agnew 29, 65)

Celtic FC Women marked their return to action from the international break with another impressive performance as they ran out 5-0 winners against Partick Thistle.

Storming into a four-goal lead in the first half, it was a five-star performance from the Ghirls as Tash Flint and Murphy Agnew each scored a brace, following up Caitlin Hayes’ opener.

It took less than 10 minutes for the Hoops to grab the first goal of the game as Hayes scored the opener at Petershill for the second consecutive game.

The defender latched on to the end of Chloe Craig’s inch-perfect delivery into the box, diverting the ball into the back of the net.

After such a promising start, the Ghirls continued to pile on the pressure and had a handful of early openings.

Tash Flint was extremely unfortunate not to grab her first goal of the day just moments after Hayes’ strike, forcing a strong save from the Partick Thistle goalkeeper.

However, she didn’t have to wait long for her goal as the Ghirls doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark.

Finishing off the move at the second attempt, the striker wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass her by as she clinically smashed it into the back of the net after a stramash inside the penalty area.

Just three minutes later Elena Sadiku’s side had a third as Murphy Agnew got in on the act with the first of her two goals in the game.

Playing a slightly deeper role, Amy Gallacher was doing well to find her team-mates in dangerous areas, and once again the forward picked out her strike partner as Agnew slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Heading towards the break, Celtic made their dominance count once again as Flint got her second of the day.

Latching on to another well-weighted pass from Gallacher, the English forward remained composed, rounding the Thistle shot-stopper before calmly placing the ball into an empty net.

With such a healthy advantage at the break, Sadiku and her staff were able to make changes in the second half, including the introduction of Kit Loferski.

The American striker was unfortunate not to add to the scoring early in the second half, hitting the crossbar on two separate occasions and coming close to finding the bottom corner with a finish.

But midway through the second half, the Celts were able to add to their scoring tally as Agnew grabbed a second and Celtic’s fifth.

Producing another smart finish into the far corner, the forward marked her return to the starting line-up with a brace.

There was also another special moment in the second half as midfielder Lisa Robertson made her return to action after 339 days out.

Overall, it proved to be another successful afternoon for the Ghirls, kick-starting a huge week with three points.
