Leicester City will clash heads with Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night, hoping to pick up a win on their home turf. The Foxes will be heading into the contest on the back of an encouraging 4-1 win over Watford in the third round of the FA Cup competition, whereas the Lilywhites recorded a 1-0 loss (aggregate 3-0) against Chelsea in Carabao Cup.

Team News

After returning from injury spells, several players are in contention to make the matchday squad. The list includes the likes of Luke Thomas, Caglar Soyuncu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Patson Daka, and James Justin.

Boubakary Soumare’s involvement is still under some doubt as he is due to return to training this week.

Ricardo Pereira, Wesley Fofana, Jamie Vardy and Jonny Evans remain sidelined with long-term injuries, whereas Wilfred Ndidi, Daniel Amartey, Kelechi Iheanacho and Nampalys Mendy are at the African Cup of Nations.

Brendan Rodgers will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation with several tweaks from the last game. Caglar Soyuncu might get the nod over Hamza Choudhury in defence, whereas Kasper Schmeichel looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

Kasper Schmeichel is expected to start in goal for the Foxes. The Danish shot-stopper would be hoping to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Wednesday.

Brendan Rodgers could choose to field a ‘back-four’ consisting of James Justin, Caglar Soyuncu, Jannik Vestergaard, and Luke Thomas as they look to keep things solid at the back in midweek.

However, their prime objective will be to keep Lucas Moura and Harry Kane quiet throughout the ninety minutes.

Midfield

Youri Tielemans will partner Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at the centre of the park; however, they might be assigned very different roles. The latter should take up a more defensive position, shielding the back four, whereas the former will stay central, dictating play with his ball distribution.

James Maddison will start in the attacking midfield role. The England international would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal scoring chances for the front men.

Marc Albrighton will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on in the latter stages of the game if needed.

Attack

Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman will take up the wide positions, looking to create menace for the Tottenham defenders down the left and right flank respectively.

Patson Daka will lead the charge for the Foxes down the middle. The Zambian striker will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net when he faces off against the Spurs defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches across all competitions.
