Fiorentina have announced that Albert Gudmundsson was diagnosed with a fracture in his back, while Andrea Colpani suffered an injury relapse.

The Viola are still feeling the effects of the surprise 2-0 home defeat to Como in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

Gudmundsson had been introduced as a substitute coming on at the 55th minute, but was forced off the field again just 19 minutes later following a knock to the back.

The former Genoa man went for X-Rays that confirmed it was more than a mere bruise, because he has been diagnosed with a fracture where the sacrum meets the coccyx.

Because this is a complicated situation, the formal Fiorentina statement notes that Gudmundsson will be evaluated over the next few days by specialists.

Meanwhile, Colpani also went off injured during that home defeat to Como and the rest results showed bruising to the top of the right foot.

This is the same spot that had forced him onto the treatment table three weeks ago, so the former Monza player will rest for a few days before resuming individual training routines and working his way back to full fitness.

Both are out of the trip to Verona, along with suspended Robin Gosens.
