Klagenfurt visit Red Bull Arena

Sunday's opponents SK Austria Klagenfurt are on course for the champions group under the guidance of Peter Pacult for the third successive year since gaining promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga in 2021.

Their 33 points and fourth place in the table speak for themselves, with Klagenfurt losing just three matches so far this season! They took a credible 2-2 draw at LASK to restart the year with before draws against Austria Lustenau (1-0) and Blau-Weiß Linz (2-0). They are a real force away from home too - with the third best away record!

In our first meeting at the 28 BLACK Arena, Andy Irving & Co showed that they are tough nuts to crack as we played out a 2-2 draw. Our Red Bulls twice went in front only for a red card for Strahinja Pavlovic to swing the encounter and leave us dropping points. There was certainly no shortage of drama!

After the sensational 7-0 win against Austria Lustenau, we can definitely go confidently into the clash on Sunday 3 March at 17:00 with the aim of taking another three points. With our advantage over Sturm Graz at just two points, we cannot afford anything less if we want to remain on top of the standings.

If we want to succeed on Sunday, we will have to show our virtues on the pitch and put in a very concentrated performance against a team who are the fourth strongest in the league. Klagenfurt play a very pragmatic style and always manage to pick up points with their direct style. It will be decisive for us that we show our typical principles again when we play them, that we combine quickly and play unpredictable, joyful football. That is what we prepared for during training this week.

Gerhard Struber

Klagenfurt are fourth place in the table and are a top team. Their great strength is probably their team spirit, and they have a good coach. We need to be very concentrated on Sunday. We have prepared well for this match, though, and we are ready.
