Feyenoord have issued a devastating injury update regarding their star striker Santiago Giménez. The Mexican has been ruled out of action for around three months due to a serious thigh injury sustained during Sunday’s 2-0 win over NAC Breda.

Just 29 minutes into the Eredivisie tie, Giménez was stretchered off in discomfort having been clutching his upper leg in agony. The 23-year-old has featured in all seven of Feyenoord’s games so far this season, scoring four goals. Now he’s expected to be about for around three months and might not return to the pitch until 2025.

With Santiago Giménez ruled out, Feyenoord have two first-team striker’s remaining in their squad. Summer signing Julian Julián Carranza may have the opportunity to impress, having only featured for 13 minutes so far this season. Ayase Ueda will most likely be handed the starting spot. The Japan international came on to replace Santiago Giménez on Sunday, scoring the opening goal of the game just five minutes after entering the pitch.
