Fernando ‘Oso’ González has vowed to win over Chivas fans in spite of his previous spell at arch rivals América.

The 28-year-old midfielder actually came through the Flock’s academy, but only made seven appearances for club at first-team level.

After a number of loans, he eventually left for Necaxa on a permanent deal in 2019 after impressing at Los Rayos the year before.

He would move from there to América, then on to León, then back to Necaxa before Chivas bought him last week.

González is well aware that his dalliance with the Azulcrema will colour some fans’ opinion of him, but he insists that the “thorn of returning” to Guadalajara was always in his side.

“I think I know what Chivas is like, the fact of the objectives, where the club has to be and the fact of leaving here is part of the DNA,” he told TUDN.

“The fans will have their comments, their perspective, but in the end with the work I hope to make them change their minds.

“For me the work is the main thing. I hope to contribute my grain of sand to give a lot of joy.”

Chivas are expected to add further additions to the squad following the arrivals of González and Alan Mozo.
