Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand joked about Chelsea moving on to sign Lionel Messi this window.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has been active in the market, with the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell joining the club.
With Messi reportedly wanting to leave Barca, Ferdinand joked that Lampard would next sign the Argentine superstar.
The former United defender tweeted on Tuesday night: "Just heard Frank Lampard is now in for Messi. Some window this if Lamps pulls this off!!"
Messi is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, given his relationship with Pep Guardiola and his close friendship with Sergio Aguero.
