West Ham and Chelsea are both interested in Leicester City's Mads Hermansen.
West Ham and Chelsea are interested in Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen after their relegation to the Championship.
The Dane has been an excellent signing for the Foxes, initially starring for Enzo Maresca’s side as they won the Championship title.
As well as impressing with his goalkeeping skills, Hermansen was also crucial to the way the team built out from the back with his composure in possession.
However, like all of his teammates, the previous campaign was tough for Hermansen, with Leicester suffering relegation without putting up too much of a fight.
It was also disappointing personally for the keeper, as he missed a period of the season due to a groin injury, and he was badly missed.
Therefore, Hermansen’s stock remains high in the game, and, at 24, it’s clear he is still nowhere near his peak.
And, such potential means that the ex-Brondby man is attracting attention, with the Daily Mail claiming that West Ham and Chelsea are looking at Hermansen.
A move to Stamford Bridge would see Hermansen link up with former boss Maresca, whilst the Hammers are expected to be in the market for a number one this summer.
It’s pretty clear that Hermansen is one of the most valuable assets at Leicester, so it’s going to be very difficult to keep him at the King Power Stadium, particularly given the off-field issues.
So, realistically, it’s going to be difficult to keep the stopper, and whilst Danny Ward was not a popular figure, he is another goalkeeper to leave, along with Daniel Iversen, which means it’s a department that needs looking at.
Jakub Stolarczyk has shown promising signs, although he is unproven in the Championship, so the Midlands outfit will be in the market for a new keeper if Hermansen departs.
It will be difficult to find a like-for-like replacement, but those funds could be vital to Leicester ahead of what is a massive summer for the club, as they try to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
