FC Utrecht are set to sign Marouan Azarkan from Feyenoord, according to Voetbal International. The talented 21-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, where he scored four goals and provided nine assists in 29 appearances as the club avoided relegation from the Eredivisie. A verbal agreement has been reached between Azarkan and the two teams.

Azarkan’s superb season with Excelsior has caught the attention of multiple Eredivisie sides. FC Twente were also keen on making a move for the former Netherlands U19 international. Azarkan also had options abroad, but in the end, Utrecht appear to be the winners of their transfer target.

Marouan Azarkan will become Utrecht’s third summer signing. Already, they’ve signed left-back Souffian El Karouani, who joined from NEC. They’ve made the loan deals of Modibo Sagnan and Can Bozdogan permanent. Utrecht are also set to sign Mattijs Branderhorst from NEC and Mats Seuntjens from Fortuna Sittard. Marouan Azarkan could be a superb signing for Utrecht, who finished the season in seventh place and narrowly missed out on Europe Conference League qualification.
