#FAWSL: Three straight wins leave North London rivals in top two | OneFootball

In the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Chelsea hit six, Arsenal and Spurs each made it three straight wins to sit first and second respectively.

Manchester United 1-6 Chelsea (Att: 2,197) Brighton & Hove Albion 0-1 Aston Villa (Att: 1,104) Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Reading West Ham United 4-0 Leicester City Arsenal 5-0 Manchester City

Chelsea hit Man Utd for six

Fran Kirby scored her 50th WSL goal just two minutes in from a Sam Kerr pass, as Chelsea thrashed Manchester United.

Late in the half, Pernille Harder scored following a strong run, with Kirby next setting up Kerr for a tap in.

United did reply when Alessia Russo’s shot was turned into her own net by Millie Bright, only for Kirby and Kerr to again combine for the latter’s second.

Russo hit the bar but Drew Spence got a late fifth and after Mary Earps denied her a second, Jessie Fleming following up to make it 6-1.

Five-goal Gunners go top

Arsenal beat a title rival for the second time already this season, a big victory over Manchester City seeing them lead the table from North London rivals Spurs.

The Gunners were two up in 23 minutes against Manchester City, Beth Mead beating Karima Taieb to Alex Greenwood’s backpass and setting up Vivianne Miedema to score, before Kim Little shrugged off pressure to fire home.

In the second half, Manuela Zinsberger turned a Phillippa Angeldahl strike out for a corner but moments later Katie McCabe collected a long ball and finished with power.

City’s Ellen White hit the bar after good work by Vicky Losada but Little then won a penalty which she converted herself and Leah Williamson headed home a fifth at the death.

Naz nets late Spurs breakthrough

Tottenham took their 100% start to a third game but left it later to defeat Reading.

Kit Graham fired a Spurs free-kick narrowly over the bar and was also denied by a Grace Moloney save and Rachel Williams saw her strike cleared off the line by Gemma Evans.

Jiali Tang set up the late breakthrough, as Jessica Naz gave Spurs their third win from three.

Villa up to third

Aston Villa sit unusually high in the table, following victory at Brighton they were briefly second but finish the weekend in third.

Emily Gielnek was denied the opener for Villa by Megan Walsh in the first half, but managed to find the net three minutes after the restart when beating the offside trap.

Brighton nearly got a late leveller as Hannah Hampton’s clearance hit Natalie Haigh and went just wide.

West Ham seal first win

Both Tameka Yallop and Claudia Walker got their first goals for West Ham as Leicester City were sent to a 4-0 defeat.

Adriana Leon saw her volley saved by Kirstie Levell but Yallop scored on her Hammers debut when sent away by Kate Longhurst.

Walker doubled the lead from Gilly Flaherty’s header, Ashleigh Plumptre slices an attempted clearance into her own net.

Esmee De Graaf went very close to pulling a goal back but it was a fourth for West Ham as Yallop’s header came back off the bar and in off keeper Levell.
