FC Barcelona has been working on player renewals throughout this summer. However, a pending case appears to be that of Jules Kounde. The French defender is a key player for the Catalan giants, and the club wants to extend his stay.

Fortunately, a positive foundation has already been laid for the club to continue working on. In fact, the latest update from Fabrizio Romano confirms that a massive step has been taken by the club and the player to ensure his continuity.

The Italian journalist has confirmed just today that the new deal for Kounde has been sealed, with both Barcelona and the player’s lawyers having approved the documents.

This essentially more or less confirms €65 million-rated French defender’s intention and commitment to staying at the club until 2030. While formal steps are still needed to finalise the agreement and make it official, it all seems done and dusted from the perspective of negotiations at least.

Up next for Barcelona is Frenkie de Jong’s renewal, and the Dutchman has already confirmed his desire to stay. By focusing on renewing such instrumental players, Barça is doing a great job to ensure that they do not allow any last-minute contractual mishaps to materialise.
