Paez, who is already a full Ecuador international, is widely regarded as one of the biggest talents in South America alongside Estevao Willian, who will also arrive at Chelsea in the summer.

The 17-year-old will officially join in the summer when he turns 18, and could make his debut in the Club World Cup.

However, Paez took to social media on Monday and shared a picture of his meal at Cobham and Romano has now confirmed the teenager will remain at Chelsea until the summer.

He took to X.com and said:

“Kendry Páez, at Cobham from now on to start adapting to European football ahead of Chelsea move in June.

“Kendry (2007) signed for Chelsea in 2023 for €20m package, main part in add-ons. He’s now gonna work under #CFC staff indications, preparing for next season.”

The talented teenager has a lot of first team experience despite his tender years and has made 70 appearances for Independiente del Valle as well as having 17 caps for Ecuador.

Paez is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play wide or in central midfield if required, and whilst not playing any football between now and the start of next season isn’t ideal, these months at Cobham will be really beneficial to him.

It’s unclear what Chelsea’s immediate plan for Paez is and whether he will go on loan or go straight into the first team squad to compete for minutes, but he’s a massive talent and if developed in the right way can become a top player.
