Como secured a 2-0 win over Fiorentina today and Cesc Fabregas said his message for the players ‘didn’t change’ despite three consecutive defeats prior to the match.

Goals from Nico Paz and Assane Diao gave Como all three points in Florence, allowing the Azzurri to move five points above the drop zone.

“Everyone wants to win. We are part of a project that is taking shape; we have changed many players since last January. Tactically, we need to raise the level a lot and put in performances like today’s,” Fabregas told DAZN via TMW.

“This was an important victory, and we must continue to grow and maintain consistency in our performances. In the last few games, we have always played our game, except for the first half against Bologna, and I have said that publicly as well.

“We lost three games in a row, and my message remains the same,” continued the Spaniard.

“Whether it’s against Juve or Fiorentina, the idea is the same. We played a slightly scrappier game today, which is what we lacked in the last few matches. We are young, and we need to keep growing. I’m happy for them; they are brave players with a lot of personality.”

Diao joined Como from Betis in January and has already scored three goals.

“He is a player with strength, hunger, and mentality,” admitted Fabregas.

“We are here to help him and the others grow, and I like that. He always wants the ball and attacks the depth, which is something we lacked last season. I’m happy about that. Today, he played more inside the field, and that rotation caused problems for Fiorentina.

“We must not focus on the name of our opponents. We need to get points, play well, and perform. When you play like this, football eventually rewards you. We will try to keep going.”
