Fabio Chiarodia is set to sign for Borussia Mönchengladbach from Werder Bremen, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The central defender is rated as one of the top young centre-backs in European football right now. The 18-year-old was being monitored by several top Italian and English clubs as well as Borussia Dortmund. However, the Italian youth international is about to put pen to paper with Gladbach.
The defender will cost Gladbach just €2m. Considering the hype around Chiarodia such a small fee sounds like a bargain.
Chiarodia became the youngest player in Bremen’s history when he made his debut for Die Werderaner in October with a fleeting two-minute cameo against Freiburg. He would only go on to feature two more times in the Bundesliga over the course of the campaign, making his only start against none other than Gladbach in March.
One for the future, it’s unclear how much Chiarodia will feature for his new side next season. However, the defender is clearly one to keep an eye out for.
