Southampton play Swansea City in the FA Cup third round on Sunday. Here is Swansea City's preview including their current form, best players and FA Cup history.

Swansea are currently playing in the Championship and sit 12th in the second division. The Swans, as they are fondly known, have taken 34 points in the Championship and remain in contention to challenge for a top six promotional playoff spot.

The Swans were on a two game winning streak at the end of December but are yet to take a first win in 2025. In their previous match, Swansea scored a last minute 1-1 goal to secure a draw against West Brom.

Swansea City are coached by first team manager Luke Williams and boast of some of the best talented players in the Championship division. Captain Matt Grimes, goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux and Joe Allen are among the regular experienced players that form the core of the starting lineup.

Furthermore, promising players such as centre forward Liam Cullen, Zan Vipotnik and Azeem Abdulai have been Swansea City's best players in the 2024/25 season.

The Swans have won the EFL Cup once in the 2012/13 but FA Cup glory has eluded them. Swansea's best finish in the FA Cup have been two semi final exits, one in 1926 and the other in 1964.

On the contrary, Southampton have an FA Cup title to their name having done so in the 1975/76 season. That win came nearly fifty years ago, when the Saints used to play at their previous homeground The Dell.

This season, Southampton are already knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Liverpool. Therefore, FA Cup remains the only tournament where Southampton could take some wins and use them as a springboard for their next Premier League matches.

Ivan Juric has a great chance to guide the Saints to a first win in his tenure. Now, let's hope that Southampton get the better of the visiting Swansea team on Sunday.
