A date for Manchester United’s FA Cup fifth-round tie with Fulham at Old Trafford has been arranged.
United dug deep to beat Leicester City 2-1 in the previous round, with a late Harry Maguire header giving them the victory.
Fulham defeated League One side Wigan Athletic 2-1 to advance to the fifth round and set up a meeting with Man United.
The two sides are now set to meet on Sunday, March 2. It will be their third encounter this season, with United triumphing in the previous games.
United also beat the Cottagers in their last encounter in this competition, winning 3-1 in the quarter-finals in 2022/2023. They have never lost to them in the FA Cup.
The Red Devils have won the competition on 13 occasions, one less than Arsenal.
United are in the bottom half of the Premier League standings, so a finish in one of the European qualification spots is unlikely.
However, if they win the FA Cup, they can secure a place in next season’s Europa League. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have already been knocked out of the tournament.
While tougher opponents still remain, United will fancy their chances against them.
The Red Devils cannot afford to miss out on playing Europe, which would compound their financial struggles and affect their summer transfer plans.
