More FA Cup action continued on Tuesday with three games and fans were treated to a bit of magic.
Here is what went down.
Scorers: Coburn 107′
Tottenham were eliminated from the FA Cup in dramatic fashion after an extra-time loss at Middlesbrough.
Deadlocked at the break, tensions continued to rise on the pitch as the clock counted down. Spurs had the better chances in the second half but couldn’t convert.
Eric Dier saw a pin-point free-kick which was heading for the top corner saved by Joe Lumley, Harry Kane had a goal ruled offside and Heung-min Son missed multiple efforts.
Late on, however, Middlesbrough came close to stealing the match yet the likes of Isaiah Jones and Jonny Howson also fell short, seeing the match head into extra-time.
Chances continued at either end but nobody could find their scoring touch.
That was until 19-year-old substitute Josh Coburn smashed the ball past Hugo Lloris to knock the Premier League club out and add more misery for Antonio Conte.
Scorers: Kouyaté 53′, Riedewald 82′; Tymon 58′
Crystal Palace left it late to edge past Stoke City at Selhurst Park.
There were a handful of chances in the first half but neither side could put anything on target, seeing things head into the break deadlocked.
Yet after the restart, Cheikhou Kouyaté happened to be in the right place at the right time to poke the ball past Jack Bonham for 1-0.
The lead however wouldn’t last for long as Josh Tymon pulled one back to make things all square five minutes later.
Chances continued to fly at either end with both sides pushing for a late winner and substitute JaĂŻro Riedewald found enough space in the box to power the ball past multiple Stoke City defenders and send Palace through.
Scorers: Mahrez 60′, Grealish 67′
Manchester City moved into the next round after a strong second half push beat Peterborough United 2-0.
While Pep Guardiola’s side came out flying in the first half, they struggled to find a way through. Jack Grealish and İlkay Gündoğan had the most threatening efforts but nothing came close to breaking the deadlock.
In fact, the hosts looked like they were up to the task of knocking City out and impressed on the counter. Peterborough registered the first shot on target through Jeando Fuchs and continued to cause issues for the visitors coming out into the second half.
Yet a little bit of magic eventually handed City the lead as Riyad Mahrez dazzled in the box and put the ball past Steven Benda with his side’s first shot on target at the hour mark.
Breaking the deadlock sparked their confidence as Phil Foden set up Jack Grealish to double the lead a few minutes later to see City move on.
