Brazil, despite nine changes to their starting line-up, looked as dangerous as ever in the first half against Cameroon but still needed some goalkeeping heroics to help them out.

Ederson, in for Alisson as part of the cacophony of changes made by manager Tite, was called upon to brilliantly deny Bryan Mbeumo’s header.

The Brentford striker was found unmarked at the back post, planting a header into the floor that seemed destined for the back of the net.

However, Ederson’s quick reactions stopped the Man City keeper from heading the wrong way as he threw an arm out to expertly deny the 23-year-old the first shot on target Brazil have faced in the tournament this year.

A couple more of those and Tite might have to reconsider his number one spot, although that may be unfair on Alisson, who hasn’t had the chance to show his stuff just yet.
