Inter managed to get rid of an aura of difficulty in Europe’s top competition with an emphatic 3-1 win over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League yesterday evening, and they relied on experience to do so.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the contributions of Edin Dzeko, Arturo Vidal, and Ivan Perisic in attaining the three vital points from the Moldovan side at the San Siro.

Inter have failed to progress to the knockout rounds in the last three editions of the Champions League, while this season they had only managed a point from their first two group stage matches, scoring no goals in the process.

Sheriff meanwhile travelled to the San Siro having won their two opening games, and the Nerazzurri will have known that only a win against the Moldovans would give them a foothold in the group.

In the end, the team “chased away the ghosts” with an impressive team display which saw them get their first win of the group stage and do so in some style, and the likes of Dzeko, Vidal, and Perisic were key to their efforts.

The Bosnian in particular managed to bag both a goal and an assist, in addition to an important defensive clearance when the scoreline was 1-1, and the experience trio helped the team see out a vital win.
