It was reported by L’Equipe that the Red Dragons are interested in signing the Welshman just one year after his move to French football.

The 21-year-old made 23 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, including 14 starts, as Rennes finished 12th in the table.

However, a move back to English football could be on the cards ahead of the 1 September transfer deadline.

Goodman praised Jordan’s level of performance at Birmingham despite the fact the team suffered relegation in his final seasons with the club.

He also believes that Wrexham could offer the midfielder the regular game time he may be seeking after being in and out of the team at Rennes last year.

“Obviously, my last sighting of Jordan James was in the Championship for Birmingham City in a team that ultimately got relegated,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.

“But he was a young player that stood out and had a really, really decent season.

“Obviously, went to Rennes last season, only started 14 games, so maybe hasn’t progressed as he would’ve hoped and certainly would’ve been hoping for more game time.

“If he went to Wrexham, he’d be another Welsh player to that contingent, and you would imagine he’d be pushing for a start on a regular basis at Wrexham, as things stand.”

Wrexham have been quite active in the market this summer following their promotion from League One, with Phil Parkinson looking to build a team capable of maintaining their place in the division beyond just one year.

Jordan James could be a good fit for Wrexham

Wrexham have signed three Welsh players this summer in Kieffer Moore, Danny Ward and Nathan Broadhead, so there is a growing contingent within the squad that could help welcome James to the club.

He could be a good fit for the Red Dragons, who will be looking to add some younger stars to their otherwise very experienced team.

James should also immediately become an option for regular game time in Parkinson’s side, and he can add some extra defensive solidity from midfield.

The 21-year-old now also has top flight experience to his name, which could be a valuable asset to bring to the dressing room, especially given he is still so young and thus has room to develop further.
