Lee Hendrie has told FLW that he expects Wrexham to be able to meet Kieffer Moore's financial demands as they chase the Sheffield United striker.

Lee Hendrie believes that Sheffield United’s Kieffer Moore would be a ‘great’ signing for Wrexham, as he insists the wages of the striker won’t be a problem.

The Red Dragons are in the Championship after three successive promotions under their Hollywood owners, and they continue to be ambitious this summer as the club try to kick-on at this level.

Kieffer Moore would command a big salary at Wrexham

It’s no surprise that the Welsh side want the 32-year-old, as Moore has proven himself in the Championship over the years, and he played a part in helping the Blades reach the play-off final last season.

Given his age, Wrexham would expect to be able to agree a fee with Sheffield United for the target man, although his wages could be an issue.

Whilst these are only estimates, Capology claim Moore is on around £25,000 a week at Bramall Lane, which would make him a substantial investment by Wrexham in that sense.

Yet, speaking exclusively to FLW, Sky Sports pundit Hendrie explained that Wrexham’s ambitions mean they would be prepared to meet Moore’s salary demands, as he backed the striker to do well at the Racecourse Ground if the move goes ahead.

Wrexham are a team on the up, and looking to bolster their squad. Moore’s wages are estimated to be £25k a week but I don’t think that will be an issue for them, I really don’t.

Obviously the fear factor of all this is FFP and all the rest of it, but they’ll have clever business people behind the scenes who are looking at this, and I don’t think the wages will be a problem at all. They’ve been linked with the likes of Jamie Vardy, and potentially paying him big money, and they’re a wealthy club that can certainly do that.

It does catch up with you, but if they want Moore, they’ll be pushing to make this happen, and it would be a great signing.”

Kieffer Moore could help Wrexham in the short-term

Wrexham’s rise up the leagues has been remarkable, so the club has had to keep evolving at a rapid pace.

Now, with the team in the Championship, it’s arguably the biggest test the ownership will face, but fans will believe that they can still be successful this season.

To do that, Phil Parkinson will need players who can make an instant impact, and Moore would do just that. He is a real physical presence up top, he can bring others into play, and he scores goals.

So, whilst his age and profile suggest he isn’t a signing for the long-term, he could do a job over the next year or two, and most would agree with Hendrie that he would be another shrewd addition for Wrexham.
